14 DAY TRIAL // Well, that was fast! Wireless carrier O2 UK put the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy on sale at the beginning of this week, and we all know that it is the only carrier in the country to have the handset available for its users, yet the company announced only on Thursday that it holds exclusivity on the Galaxy i7500 for four weeks starting with Monday, August 31.
Mobile phone users in the UK who would like to grab one of the nicest Android phones available at the moment can find the Galaxy i7500 available for purchase on the UK's market via O2 stores, online on the carrier's site, as well as through O2’s telesales team. The first Android phone from Samsung includes a wide range of attractive features, support for various services, as well as for a diversity of applications that can be downloaded from the Android Market.
“O2 has become the home of smartphones and launching our first Android-powered phone with Samsung is a key part of this,” said Steve Alder, General Manager Devices, Telefonica Europe. “What I love about the Samsung Galaxy is the great user experience and the fantastic range of apps it brings to even more customers.”
We already reported on the phone's availability with O2, yet we should mention again some of the details for those that might have missed our previous post, including the fact that the carrier has the new Android device available for free on a £45 per month rate. Spec-wise, the Samsung Galaxy is set to attract users with its 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED display that delivers a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and power LED, a Qualcomm 7200A, ARM11 528MHz + DSP 256MHz chipset, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, WiFi connectivity, 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB of internal memory and support for microSD memory cards of up to 32GB, HSDPA 7.2Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps (900 / 1700/ 2100MHz) and EDGE / GPRS (850/ 900/1800/1900) connectivity, as well as with a 1500mAh battery, all within a 115 x 56 x 11.9mm device.
