If there were any doubts that Samsung will make the Galaxy S5 smartphone official in the near future, they should be put aside now, especially after wireless carrier O2 Germany has started teasing the phone on its website.

The company has added to its portal a teaser page for the upcoming handset, providing users with the possibility to register for updates on when the phone becomes available for purchase.

O2 does not say that this will be the Galaxy S5, but the link to the aforementioned page, along with the “Anticipation High 5” teaser posted there, suggests that this is indeed the device we should be expecting.

Moreover, the carrier notes on said page that more details on the phone’s arrival will become available at the end of February, which suggests that Samsung might indeed make Galaxy S5 official next week in Barcelona, at the Mobile World Congress.

As SamMobile notes, chances are that the German carrier will be one of the first operators in the world to bring the handset to its network.

Unfortunately, although a teaser image has been published by O2, it does not offer a glimpse at the phone itself. However, it does appear to suggest that the handset might sport some sort of waterproof capabilities.

Samsung was said before to plan on packing more of its high-end smartphones with dust- and waterproof features, and it seems that Galaxy S5 might be the first in the series.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be announced on Monday, February 24, during an Unpacked event set to take place at MWC 2014 in Barcelona.

The phone should hit the market with a 5.3-inch screen, a quad-core/octa-core processor inside, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel camera on the back, while featuring a new TouchWiz UI loaded on top of Android KitKat.
