O&O has recently launched the 12th edition of its defragmentation family, a
solution destined for both home environment through the Professional version as well as the corporate one, via the Workstation and the Server editions.

Their defragmentation product has always been present in the debate on which was the best defrag program on the market and many users have leaned towards it. So the developer has all the reasons to improve the product and introduce to the user both new features and amend the quality of its services, as well as new prices.

By September 30th, the German company sweetens the deal for its server defragmentation solution. Thus, for the Server edition of the defragger you will pay only €99 instead of the original €249 price (VAT is not included in the price, so add €18.81 to the payment, making it €117.81). A 40% slash on the price tag is sweet enough, but combined with the new features of the latest issue this could easily turn into an offer many can't refuse.

The benefits of the new release include full compatibility with Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, background monitoring (which now can be configured for individual drives) to keep the system at peak performance, central management of O&O Defrag installations in the network (with O&O Enterprise Management Console) as well as new and improved defragmentation through three new defragmentation methods (Optimize, Optimize/Quick and Optimize/Complete), taking the total number included in the application to 8.

Zone Filing is a novelty in the product, one that is designed to improve access time to frequently used data, such as system files. What O&O Defrag does is analyze all the information during its first defrag and label it according to purpose and access frequency, in three zones, enabling less fragmentation and faster access. The data is organized as follows: system files will go in the first zone, user data and settings are placed in the second one, while large chunks of information or data rarely used will fit into the third zone. All this is done automatically but the user has the possibility to add some more files in the three zones in order to benefit from the same advantages for all disk drives.

All three defragmentation products from O&O can be taken for a spin before you decide whether they're worth the cash or not, for a period of 30 days, unafflicted by any limitation. So there is plenty of time to test the Server edition by the end of September and decide on the 40% off discount offer.
