He might be in debt and under lock for 33 years, but he’s determined to have fun

O.J. Simpson is in prison for the next 33 years and, according to recent tax liens, not paying his dues to the Tax Man but that’s not to say he can’t have his fun. According to new reports, he’s had plenty of that on the occasion of the Super Bowl.

Because he is one of the few inmates to have a TV in his cell, Simpson threw a Super Bowl party for his friends, the New York Post reports.

“O.J. Simpson held a Super Bowl party in his cell at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, where he’s serving a 33-year sentence for kidnapping and armed robbery,” the e-zine says.

“Simpson is one of the few inmates who has his own TV, reports The Post’s Richard Johnson, so his friends crammed into his 80-square-foot cell to watch,” adds the report.

Norman Pardo, a producer and good friend of Simpson’s, half-confirms this but only to explain that having a TV in his cell is not against the rules – not if you have the money for it, that is.

“If you have the money, you can buy a TV at the inmate store and put it in your cell,” Pardo says.

“He’s like the Godfather of the prison now,” he adds, talking about how popular Simpson is among his fellow inmates.

Pardo, we should note, is shopping an idea for a movie called “Unpromotable,” about how he tried to clean Simpson’s image after he was acquitted of murder in 1995, to relaunch his career after one of the most mediated trials of the century.

As we also reported some time ago, Simpson has not been paying his taxes since 2007, which means he owes the IRS over $500,000 (€370,919), money that, for the time being, he does not dispose of.
