PC gamers have quite an interesting week lying ahead, with Intel publishing Larrabee info and feeding details on the x86-compatible GPU, while Advanced Micro Devices is hosting the annual
CTO Summit in Reykjavik (Iceland), and Nvidia is expected to release the announced PhysX content pack and also holding the Nvision 2008 event.
It seems that
TG Daily has managed to get a few words from Nvidia, through Roy Taylor, the man behind Nvidia's slogan "The Way It's Meant to Be Played" (TWIMTBP). Taylor talked about the recently completed E3 games conference and presented Nvidia's point of view on the event.
It appears that the reorganization E3 had suffered turned the event into a sort of disaster. Originally, E3 games conference was seen as a "celebration of gaming". According to Taylor, a few years ago, the event was a big one, where companies came and presented their plans for the coming year. It all meant hard work, but the event was extremely important. The new E3 gaming conference is far from what it used to be.
"Riccitello [Vice President of Electronic Arts] was right. E3, the Show is dead. Most of the people I met didn't even go into the halls and the ones that went into the halls said that there was no one there," Taylor revealed according to TG Daily. He also stated that Nvision would replace the old E3. "We feel that the time is right to offer gamers celebration of gaming once again," were his words.
Nvision will start on August 25 in San Jose and will end on August 27. As
previously reported and confirmed today, Nvidia wants to make this a big event, and has basically taken over all of downtown San Jose with it. There will be an exhibition hall, huge LAN party, theater and keynotes. The company has its hopes high with the event and, in Taylor's words, in a nutshell, E3 is dead, Nvision is the new E3.
