Chip maker Nvidia has confirmed the availability of LTE connectivity inside its Tegra 3 application processor for the next year.

The quad-core Tegra 3 became available several months ago and is already powering various mobile devices out there. Codenamed “Grey,” the LTE-enabled version of the CPU won’t be ready for this year, as initially expected.

During the earnings call announcing the financial results for the first quarter of the year, Nvidia confirmed that the application processor was pushed back, and that devices powered by it would be released only in 2013.

“Looking forward, you’ll see Tegra 3 LTE phones with partners’ baseband processors in the second half of this year and then next year with our own LTE baseband processors as well,” Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang reportedly said the earnings call.
