A few weeks ago we brought you the very first details about the GTX 560, Nvidia's upcoming graphics card that is destined to take on AMD's highly acclaimed Radeon HD 6950, some images allegedly picturing this GPU making their way onto the Web.

Also known under the GF114 codename, the GTX 560 should debut in Q1 2011, NordicHardware stating that the board will be officially launched on January 25.

Although previous reports tend to disagree with this date, all sources state that the card will feature 384 CUDA cores as well as a 256-bit memory bus.

Furthermore, the GF114 also boasts 32 ROP units, 1GB of video memory buffer, the total bandwidth available reaching 128GB/s while the core's computing power is rated at 1.26 TFLOPs.

As for the memory and core clock, early sources suggested these to be set at 820MHz and 1GHz (4000MHz effective), respectively, although the Bright Side of News website tends to disagree with these claims as it states that some GF114 GPUs can reach speeds as high as 930-940MHz on air.

The site suggests that this would allow Nvidia to clock the GTX 560 more aggressively and that some manufacturers, like EVGA or Point of View, will launch parts that run a 900MHz core.

This website also carries a picture of a GF114 core, their sources even stating that the “GTX 560 will ship on time and has no problems in beating Barts [Radeon HD 6800 Series] by a significant margin.”

In addition, more pictures of the card come from the Nvnews forum, a post showing a video card that presumably is the GTX 560.

As you can see from the two pictures provided, the card bears an eerie resemblance with the GTX 460, the cooling solution used being apparently the same, although the PCB has gone through some changes in the PWM area.

Unfortunately, since the pictures provided are pretty low-res and there is no way reading the markings on the GPU's heatspreader, the card depicted could be a custom designed GTX 460.

According to the NordicHardware website, the GTX 560 will retail for 2600 Swedish kronor which (after excluding VAT) translates to about $305 US, right in range of the $300 Radeon HD 6950.
