Nvidia has confirmed that it will release its Shield portable gaming console on July 31 and that those interested in the device can try it out at special demo kiosks set up in GameStop, Microcenter, and Canada Computers stores.

The Nvidia Shield was a big surprise, as the company known most for graphics cards and mobile hardware revealed a handheld gaming console that's powered by Android and even supports the streaming of footage from PCs.

After a sudden delay caused by a mechanical problem with the device, Nvidia has now confirmed that its device will start shipping on July 31.

For those who want to try out the console before getting it, special demo stations will be set up at various locations of GameStop, Microcenter, and Canada Computers, in the U.S. and Canada.
