They say they’ll support all GPUs launched in the last 8 years

Nvidia reportedly promises complete Windows 8 support for all their GPU launched in the last eight years, since the old GeForce 6200 until the GeForce GTX 690 dual GPU monster.

As AMD gave users the bad news of decreased support for the pre-HD 5000 series, journalists started asking questions and Nvidia, the other major player in the video card market, was next on the interrogatory list.

It is not yet clear how complete or diverse will this support be. There are rumors that this will be a standard windows 8 integrated driver or, even worse, a driver obtainable only through Microsoft’s Windows Update service.

We hope that this will be a complete WHQL driver with full-option for each card and we also hope Nvidia will keep improving the driver at least for the next year, as far as DirectX 9 cards are concerned.

"On our website we have a list of products that support Windows 8. We not only support all the way back to 6-series but we have been supporting these DX9 products for years now. AMD killed support on Win7 for DX9 products if you recall,” said Brian Burke, Nvidia’s senior PR manager, Notebook GPUs and Windows RT.
