Nvidia looks like in a launch spree lately, as another card is stated for release in the weeks to come, the GeForce 9400GS. The card is said to be a less efficient version of GeForce 9500GT graphics board, and will not be available for the retail market, but only for OEMs and System integrators.

The card will be cheaper than 9500GT, since it will feature a lower clocked core and less impressing
performance. History seems to repeat itself, as the graphics chips manufacturer did the same last year with the quite successful GeForce 8500GT which was launched for retail, followed by the 8400GS for OEMs and system integrators.

Nvidia remains faithful to its already established patterns, including the habit of having its products renamed and rebranded several times. The GeForce 9400GS was announced about three months ago as a renamed GeForce 8500GT, while the slower 8400GS was expected to become 9300GS.

Other news about Nvidia is related to the preparation of Nvision 2008. The company seems determined to transform the event into a replacement for the E3 electronic entertainment expo and to come up with something for gamers, developers, 3D professionals and academic and researchers. Big players including Microsoft, Sony and EA, as well as some Nvidia partners like EVGA are expected to attend Nvision 2008.

A quick look at the Nvision site shows that top visual computing professionals, world-class gamers, innovative artists and designers, enthusiasts, and cutting-edge researchers should meet at the event in order to share ideas, experiences, and passions. Nvision 2008 is said to be "first-ever visual computing mega-event", and Nvidia might wish for it to turn into a regular meeting on the area.

Thousands of people are expected to come to the event, including Fortune 500 companies, CAD/design, medical, science, automotive, and mobile industries, broadcast, video, and film industries, supercomputing experts and researchers, game developers, hardware vendors, retailers, iCafe and gaming center managers and owners, software vendors, as well as simple visitors that only look for enriching their experience in the latest in visual technologies.

The event will take place in San Jose, California, from Monday, August 25 until Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
