A few hours ago, April 4th, Nvidia released version 295.49 of its graphics driver for Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD operating systems.

Nvidia 295.44 brings support for the GeForce GTX 690, the newest video card that hit the market at the end of last month.

Among other features in Nvidia 295.49, we can mention a fix for a problem where starting, stopping, and moving OpenGL application windows was very slow on Quadro FX 4600, Quadro FX 5600, GeForce 8800 GTX, GeForce 8800 GTS, and GeForce 8800 Ultra.

The most important fix is one for an OpenGL performance regression that affected Geforce 6 and Geforce 7 series integrated GPUs. This was the cause of the freezes some Linux users have reported.
