The NPD Group has carried out a survey of small- and medium-sized businesses in the United States and found that many are planning to spend considerable amounts of cash to deploy iPads in their organizations.

Around 73 percent plan to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of tablets in the next year or so. Most of these tablets will be Apple iPads, according to the research group.

The surveyed businesses were carefully selected to have fewer than 1,000 employees.

Asked about their intent to buy tablets in the next 12 months, nearly three quarters said they intended to purchase bulk tablet computers and deploy them into the workplace, according to AppleInsider.

Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis at NPD, said businesses are "determined" to embrace tablets. He added that most of them are eyeing Apple’s iPad.
