Though it’s only months that a study revealed that British men thought women were overdoing it with the makeup, now a new survey comes to show that more and more men also resort to it for a regular night out.

Over 3.3 million British men use makeup products once considered exclusive to women before they head out clubbing, the Daily Mail informs.

Of the products most popular with the gentlemen, there is the now-familiar guyliner and the manscara (which, as noted, have had their names adapted to the male customer), but also hair dye, nail polish and even concealer and lipstick.

The popularity of such stars as Russell Brand, Adam Lambert and Jared Leto (pictured), who constantly wear makeup on their public outings and on stage, clearly has a lot to do with this boost in popularity.

According to the study conducted by Opinium Research on 1,800 men and cited by the Mail, one in seven men “use a variety of products traditionally aimed at women, such as eye-liner, fake tan and spot or blemish concealer, it has been revealed.”

“Of the men who use make-up, more than one in four do it at least once a week,” with an average of twice a week, on nights out, the publication further notes.

“The most popular products that male cosmetics-users use include hair dye, eye creams, anti-ageing products, eye liner and fake tan,” says the Mail.

“Other cosmetics used by men include spot concealer, face powder, nail varnish and even lipstick,” the same tab informs.

Of the men who confess to having given in to the recent “cosmetics rush,” 26 percent wear it once a week, while 13 percent do so on a daily basis. One in five men wears makeup to work.

While the survey shows, beyond any trace of doubt, that men are just as interested as women are in their appearance, they’re speedier in getting ready than their female counterparts.

“They take an average of just 21 minutes to prepare for a night out, half the time it takes the average woman who spends 41 minutes getting ready,” the Mail notes.

The downside is that many of the men using makeup refuse to buy their own products, with over one third borrowing them from their girlfriends or wives.

Luckily, 39 percent of these women are more than happy to share their cosmetics with their male partner – and even help him in applying them.
