The notifications are well designed, but they do contain some errors

Phishing schemes that rely on the name and reputation of Amazon are not uncommon, but the company’s representatives state that a certain scam has increased in frequency, especially after the world learned on the data breaches that have affected LinkedIn and eHarmony.

The fraud messages notify the recipients that their order has been complete and that they’ve been charged a certain amount of money.

According to the Los Angeles Wave, the emails look legitimate. They contain the Amazon advertising logo, the order summary, and they even appear to originate from the [email protected] address.

One interesting thing about these emails is that they carry different billing addresses, which in most cases are incorrect. For example, Russian country codes are assigned to locations in Florida.

While the investigation is ongoing, Amazon is advising customers to be on the lookout for such messages and delete them without clicking on any of the links they contain. Affected individuals will receive notifications from the company, in which these scams and the countermeasures prepared for them are detailed.
