Nuance Updates Dragon Search and Dictation Apps for iPhone, iPad

Nuance Communications, Inc., the company whose voice-recognition technology is used in the Siri personal assistant, has announced that its Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search iOS applications now support the Bahasa Indonesia language.

The company claims this is only another small step towards expanding their offerings, as they have already seen tens of millions of downloads worldwide.

iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad owners use Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search to dictate SMS text messages, emails etc., as well as mobile Web searches and more.

Dragon Dictation now supports iOS 5 and adds a pop-up toolbar with app icons for various services including email, SMS, Facebook or Twitter status bars. Dictation includes a new Auto Save function that kicks in when the user is interrupted by an incoming call.

Commenting on their new release, Jason Stirling, senior vice president, Asia Pacific, Nuance Communications, said: “Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search have already experienced great success across Asia and we’re thrilled to be expanding into Indonesia.”

“In fact, this is the 28th country where the Dragon Apps have been launched, with the popularity of our Dragon Apps worldwide clearly demonstrating the intense consumer demand for voice-enabled interactions with their smartphones,” added Stirling.

Dragon Dictation requires network connectivity (WiFi or 3G/EDGE) and works on iPad, iPhone, and on second and third generation iPod Touch (external microphone required). Dragon Search only works on iPhone and second and third generation iPod touch devices.

Dictation is also a universal app, meaning you download it once for both iPhone and iPad synchronization in iTunes.

Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are also available in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, China, Korea, Australia, Denmark, Brazil, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, and dozens more territories.
