Nuance Releases New Healthcare Recorder App for iPhone - Free Download

Nuance Communications has announced Dragon Medical Mobile Recorder, a free iOS application available as a free download from iTunes.

Present in only some international iTunes App Stores, the app is tasked with expanding Nuance’s healthcare suite of speech solutions for smartphones and building upon the recent success of Dragon Medical Mobile Search, the company said in a report.

Nuance claims to be introducing a new level of clinical documentation flexibility via its Dragon Medical Mobile Recorder.

The app enables mobile point-of-care dictation that is connected to the fully-outsourced Nuance Transcription Services offering, as well as speech-enabled transcription platforms, eScription and Dictaphone Enterprise Speech System.

“As the demand for mobile, point-of-care solutions grows, so does Nuance’s commitment to deliver innovative healthcare applications for smartphones and other leading mobile devices that advance and improve the mobile clinical experience,” said Janet Dillione, executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Healthcare.

“We believe the interaction of speech technology and healthcare mobility is crucial. Nuance’s Dragon Medical Mobile solutions speed and simplify the use of mobile devices and applications in healthcare settings, as well as improve the overall clinical experience for both the care provider and patient,” Dillione added.

Designed to enhance the dictation process for clinicians, ensuring fast, accurate clinical documentation, Dragon Medical Mobile Recorder leverages the WiFi and 3G wireless capabilities of the iPhone, and protects all patient information with a full range of security features, such as advanced encryption.

Since clinicians can download and install the app via the iTunes App Store, the solution minimizes the IT resources required to deploy this tool across the enterprise, Nuance said.

Another key plus is the ability to provide administrators with a way to centrally manage user accounts.

This can be done through EMon - the eScription administrative console, or Enterprise Explorer - the Dictaphone Enterprise Speech System administrative console.
