Have you always admired those 3D pictures you can see in some art studios, and longed for the possibility to take such pictures yourselves? Well, it seems that now this technology is quite at hand, since a company called Stereovision Imaging has just launched a very special device, dubbed 3D VuCAM, which is actually capable of digitally capturing high resolution images in 3D.

Thus, this very interesting product can be used for easily capturing, viewing and manipulating 3D digital content directly on a PC, or even import said content into existing 3D software and visualization applications. That's possible due to the fact that the 3D VuCAM integrates Stereovision Imaging's patented optics and imaging electronics with high-performance binoculars, thus enabling the users to record up-close images from stadiums, building roof-tops, hiking trails, and many more.

This very interesting camera sports a 3.2 Megapixel image resolution, 8 X level of magnification, a 40 mm objective lens, as well as fully coated optics and an auto&manual focus system. And if you were wondering just how you can view these pictures, the solution is quite simple: 3D glasses, 3D monitors or traditional 3D glasses.

Here is a list of the most important features and specifications this very interesting and useful device has to offer:

- dimensions: 15.74 cm x 16.25 cm x 7.11 cm; - weight: around 900 grams; - batteries: 2 AA NiMH; - storage: 256 MB internal Flash memory; - supports: Compact Flash II memory cards with storage capacities up to 128 MB; - magnification level: 8X; - field of view: 6.5 degrees; - 3-D image resolution: 3.1 Megapixels; - features: an auto and manual focus system; - connectors: S-Video, RCA; - interface: USB 2.0.

This device is available for around $2000, which is an extremely high price, if you ask me, even if the thing does make 3D pictures. After all, it's almost as expensive as a DSLR, and doesn't come even close to the performances of such a camera.
