Blogging isn't exactly the hottest trend right now, but that may very well be a good thing, it means that those maintaining a blog may actually have something to say. With the ones keeping a blog full of updates of interest only to them moving to Facebook and Twitter, many blogs now are highly specialized and serve a single topic or area.
Finding them, though, isn't easy. Your best bet is to search for the topic you're interested in and then going through the results seeing which ones regularly post on the same subject.
But now there's a better way, Google has added a subtle but very powerful new feature to its Blog Search vertical, the possibility to search by "homepages" rather than "posts."
"
With the proliferation of specialized blogs all across the web, you'll often find great content on blogs—whether you're planning a trip to Florida, looking to bring home a new golden retriever or learning how to make a delicious Italian dinner," Google
wrote in its weekly search round-up.
"
Recently, our blog search team made it much easier to find full blogs about your query, rather than single posts on the topic. This is especially useful if you're looking for bloggers that post on an ongoing basis about the subject of your query," Google announced.
"
Try it with one of your search queries by clicking 'Blogs,' then 'Homepages,' in the left-hand panel of your search results," it explained.
The new feature enables you to search for specific blogs on a subject rather than just individual posts. This should be useful if you're trying to find a more authoritative opinion on a matter.
It also comes in handy if you're trying to find a number of blogs focusing on a particular topic to follow. The new feature is live for everyone and you can find it if you filter your search results to just Blogs and then select "Homepages."
