Lily Allen gets to present her own TV series. 'The Smile' singer has just signed a deal with British satellite channel BBC Three to host her own chat show. However, it's not an ordinary show and is based on Lily being among the first musicians in Britain who used social software networks in order to promote her music. In fact, the show will be "shaped" online by the viewers who are given the chance to become Lily's virtual friends, thus contributing to topical discussions, putting questions to guests and even presenting parts of the show.
As well as featuring interviews with celebrities, the show will also include performances by unsigned bands and musicians who will be selected by the audience. Viewers will then be able to track the progress of the acts via a special website and online social network which are being created for the series.
The audience will therefore consist entirely of Lily online friends (old and new ones), who will also have exclusive access to behind-the-scenes footage of the show and will be able to sign up to have highlights sent directly to their mobile phones. A Lilly Allen and Friends website will give each member a profile from which they can access and comment on the show, while it will also follow the progress of the new music acts showcased on the programme.
Lily admits she is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to front her own TV show and can't wait to get started. She said: "I'm so excited. It's something I intend to have lots of fun with and I have some great ideas". Well, yes, just imagine all the side-comments and all the captioned photographs of celebrities Lily will choose to slam and so on. I'm sure she will have loads of fun - and her producers will have even more fun handling all the lawsuits that will be filed against Lily. But the idea in itself is interesting - when Lily Allen wants to speak, any opportunity is welcome - just think of all the fun we'll have when she gets into a cat fight with Courtney Love.
