14 DAY TRIAL // ChangeWave has released the results of a survey according to which 40% of respondents indicated they were likely to buy an iPhone 6 that comes with a larger screen size, a faster processor, and an updated operating system for $199 (€143) on contract.
In other words, Apple is downright forced to launch a larger-screen iPhone, or else.
Fortune offers the chart displayed above and a quote from Andy Golub of 451 Research, who says, “This is the highest level of demand for an unannounced Apple model in a ChangeWave survey – stronger than we've seen in previous years for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 models prior to their announcements.”
Golub strongly believes that “Speculation over a larger screen iPhone is clearly striking a chord with consumers.”
Court documents leaked from the Apple/Samsung patent trial indicate that the Cupertino giant is well aware of the demand for a larger-screen iPhone, and all rumors point to the iPhone 6 as being the first such handset to adopt a display larger than 4 inches on the diagonal (the current spec in Apple’s iPhone 5s).
Apple is said to have not one, but two large-screen iPhones planned for launch this year, and the announcement could come as early as WWDC14.
