OUYA has made available a new firmware package targeted at its game console, namely version 1.2.853, which includes several changes that should improve the device’s overall performance and stability.

This fresh update adds a 5-star rating system that will be shown on each game’s title and details page in order to find the desired game more accurately, and changes the “O” and “U” button functions for the downloaded games so that “O” goes to Game Details and “U” launches or updates the game.

In addition to that, the new release adds the ability to postpone an update so that you can safely use the console when you really need to, rather than wait for the firmware to be applied.

However, if you do postpone, games can be played but you won’t be able to access DISCOVER or update any games until the update is applied. Moreover, a reminder will be given each time you return to the Home screen, and the producer highlights that, for future versions, an “Update Now or Later” option will be available.

Version 1.2.853 also improves compatibility with Bluetooth and IR remotes, adds a quick tutorial about how to properly bring up the System Menu, and fixes the problem with the downloads folder in STORAGE that wouldn’t be displayed for all users.

Last but not least, OUYA’s latest firmware adds rank numbers to the “Trending Now” category and an “overscan compensation” feature in the advanced settings menu under HDMI (this option might affect the game’s visual quality, so be careful with it).

That being said, if you consider applying this latest release, download OUYA Game Console Firmware 1.2.853, install it, and enjoy all the above-mentioned changes that the new version brings.
