Novatel has recently announced that its new MiFi 4082 Mobile Hotspot is available for purchase via Comcast.
Re-branded as Xfinity Internet2go, the MiFi mobile hotspot is commercially available through Comcast's website for a $25 one-time fee with a qualifying Xfinity Internet 2go service plan.
“
We're excited to assist Comcast in rolling out their next generation Xfinity Internet 2go 4G/3G Mobile Hotspot device, perfect for watching TV and movies on-the-go,” said Rob Hadley, CMO of Novatel Wireless.
“
The new MiFi 4082 delivers 4G speeds and complements Comcast's broad connectivity and entertainment offering perfectly, providing innovative services not only for the home but now also on-the-go.”
Novatel's MiFi 4082 Mobile Hotspot is one of the latest devices included in the award-winning MiFi family of products that have been especially designed to bring
4G WiMAX to customers with smartphones that support the Wi-Fi hotspot feature with connectivity for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices.
The MiFi 4082 comes preloaded with
MiFi OS, widgets and application support. In addition, it features an external e-Ink display with status indicators for battery, signal strength and number of connected devices.
The device also features shared storage capability through a microSD slot with up to 32GB.
According to Novatel, the MiFi 4082 Mobile Hotspot doesn't require any cables or software installation for Wi-Fi connection.
Furthermore, it supports Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems and is powered by a standard 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to four hours of usage or up to 60 hours of standby time.
The hotspot is sleek and small, about the size of a credit card and weighs only 85g (battery included).
Although the device is available for only $25, the monthly plan costs about $40 per month for the first 12 months, after which it goes to $55 per month.
