One of the most popular Android launchers, Nova Launcher, has just received a major update that brings important design and performance improvements.

With more than 10 million downloads on Google Play Store, the application developed by TeslaCoil Software offers quite a lot of feature and options for those who love to tweak their Android smartphones.

Although the application is available for free, those who wish some extra features will have to pay in order to get the Nova Launcher Prime.

First of all, let's see what the new update brings to Nova Launcher users. The most obvious change is the total makeover of the application, which now features a Material Design look.

This is a welcome change since Android 5.0 Lollipop was released several months ago and Nova Launcher hasn't adopted Material Design until now.

The Android launcher has just received a complete design overhaul

Along with the new design, Nova Launcher also received new animations and Lollipop icons. New settings and options have been included in the latest updates as well.

For example, users can now edit shortcut dialog tinted based on color of icon. Widget search and support for Android for Work have also been added.

The max icon size has been boosted to 150% and the Google search bar animation is now based on Google Now Launcher.

These are the most important changes included in the latest update for Nova Launcher for Android, but developers may have also added some under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Nova Launcher for Android for free via Google Play store. It is fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind though that, in order to benefit from the premium features of Nova Launcher, you will have to pay $2.99 for the application. Stay tuned for more updates on TeslaCoil's amazingly popular Android launcher.
