Google is making the final touches to its next flavor of Android, and more and more info regarding the release date for the new platform version started to emerge recently.

For starters, we should note that various rumors on Nexus Prime, supposedly the very first smartphone to pack the upcoming Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, suggested that October would be the release time frame for handsets.

Moreover, Google's Eric Schmidt himself said a few weeks ago that the new mobile operating system flavor would be launched in the October-November time frame.

And there is also a new post on Notion Ink's official blog, coming from the company's CEO himself, Rohan Shravan, where the late October release time frame for the new platform is mentioned.

According to Notion Ink's CEO, the company plans on bringing the Ice Cream Sandwich to their device in November, only a few weeks after Google begins rolling out the new platform release.

“Official (“update button”) Ice Cream Sandwich update in November after Google’s launch in late Oct[ober],” he notes on the said blog post.

In his post, he provides some more info on the new platform version, and mentions October once again as the estimated release window: “Going back to the other updates, we all know about the impending launch of ICS (IceCream Sandwich) in October.”

Basically, there's little to add here, since a Google hardware partner is expected to know about these things. What remains to be seen is when Google might make the official announcement on the matter, and what the new platform version is set to bring along when released.

Among the other pieces of info that Rohan Shravan has shared with his readers, we can count the fact that OMAP is the platform of choice for the upcoming series of smartphones based on Android. Tegra-based handsets will taste Ice Cream Sandwich at a later date, it seems. (via)
