Notion Ink's Adam Android-based tablet PC might become available for pre-order as soon as tomorrow, December 9th. Nothing was confirmed officially on this for the time being, but all signs point towards the near availability of this device.

As reported a few weeks ago, the company placed a counter on its website, which today shows “1” (take a look at the upper right corner of the screenshot to the left), suggesting that only one day remained until the tablet PC becomes available.

Only pre-orders would kick off now, though there are great chances that the company would also announce specific info on when the device would arrive in users' hands.

Notion Ink already unveiled some info on the pre-order availability of its first Android-based device, but no specific release date was announced officially until now.

Among the unveiled info, we can count an “early December pre-order date,” and December 9th falls perfectly in this time frame, as well as the fact that those who posted on the company's forum would be offered the possibility to pre-order it first.

Of course, general availability won't be far behind, and there are also great chances that the company changed its mind on this one, especially since many users posted on its blog expressing their discontent with this decision.

The slate should arrive on shelves with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, but it appears that an upgrade to the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor won't be far behind. SlashGear suggests it would arrive only a few weeks after Notion Ink Adam is released on shelves.

The company has been hard at work with putting a nice range of applications on the tablet PC, as well as with the development of their Eden UI, which should prove compatible with the new Gingerbread UI, it seems.

There will be six different versions of Adam launched on the market, based on the connectivity options included with the device (Euro/Asia or US 3G, or WiFi-only) or the type of display one would like to have on the slate: regular LCD or Pixel Qi.

The upcoming device should include a wide range of appealing features, as well as a “surprise” capability, most probably an NFC (Near Field Communication) sensor, which would make it fit for the new Android 2.3 OS flavor.
