Notion Ink have just unveiled some more info on their Adam tablet PC, which is expected to land on shelves before the end of the ongoing year with Google's Android operating system on board. According to the company, we should expect for pre-booking for the slate to start in early December, with the device being put on sale soon after.

The Notion Ink Adam is among those tablet PCs which will arrive on shelves with the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, the company confirmed officially.

At the same time, it unveiled that a software upgrade for the slate should land soon after the initial launch, which means that Gingerbread would arrive on it in early 2011, if things go well.

According to Notion Ink, things are going well with FCC too, and the slate should soon receive all the necessary approvals, so that it can hit shelves in due time.

In case they won't manage to push the slate to the market before Christmas, than they would do it by New Year or by CES (which takes place in early January).

What should be mentioned here is that the pre-sales will take place online, and that the company will make the device available for users all around the world, not only for the United States.

In addition to unveiling these details, the company also offered some more info on the slate itself, complemented by an image showing how the music player looks like when the focus is not on it.

The second image attached to this article (the first one below) is the one to look at, showing what the company calls “the thick state mode.”

“This is where your songs are minimized, when you are not viewing the music panel. This is the thick state mode (which collapses to a smaller edge) where you are interacting with this edge (like forwarding, changing song, pausing, reading lyrics, etc),” a post on the company's blog reads.

“One can customize this notification area to any application, and you can have them on left as well,” the post continues. The second image below shows that.

For what it's worth, it appears that Samsung's Galaxy Tab will soon be joined by another highly appealing Android-based tablet PC.
