The next-generation Adam tablet has been anticipated for almost two years

Indian device manufacturer Notion Ink seems to be one of those companies who like to take their time designing a new machine (deliberately or not). The manufacturer released its Adam tablet a few years back and since then it has reportedly been at work building its successor.

Leaks bringing to light bits and pieces of information about the slate, have surfaced this summer, but nothing concrete seemed to show up. Back in September, Notion Ink put out the MB-OX 10.1 tablet, which was speculated to be a variant licensed by the company with the purpose of being turned into the Adam II later.

But that was three months ago and now the company is finally ready to pull the veil off the long-awaited Adam II. For the time being, the slate is available for Indian consumers only, but more markets will be added soon.

The Adam II is a 10-inch Android tablet with a display that offers a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Notion Ink has added a 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM with the model.

The bundle will also offer a 3.15MP rear camera, microHDMI port, 8GB of internal storage (not much, but extendable via the microSD) and a lofty 6000 mAh battery (capable of delivering up to 10 hours of battery life).

As accustomed, Notion Ink will produce tablets with a twist. Back when it was unveiled, the first Adam tablet had one of the first Pixel Qi sunlight readable displays to have ever been featured in a consumer mobile device and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor (this was back in 2010).

And Notion Ink continues its quest to push boundaries in 2013 as well, with the Adam II being the sole tablet on the market (as far as we know) to sport a secondary screen, dedicated to notifications. Nevertheless, apart from that, overall specs are quite disappointing for 2013 standards.

Notion Ink seems to be focusing too much on trying to innovate, but in the processes manages to lose touch with today’s norms. Anyway, the slate is available in India at the moment and its price starts at $265 / €162 (for the Wi-Fi version, but there’s a Wi-Fi and 3G model too ) and up.
