Recently, Notepad++ 6.2 has moved from release candidate stage of development to stable build. Among the key features available in this release there is the inclusion of a new User Defined Language system.

It also integrates more keyword groups, allowing for defining more syntax highlighting. Also, the fresh revision supports multi-part keywords and white space is no longer a requirement for separating keywords.

Additionally, the same characters can now be used as both comments and operators. Also, in the current build operators and delimiters can be longer than one character.

The improvements available touch on number recognition support (now includes prefix, suffix, range and extra symbols) and comments.

Some of the modifications in this release do not come as a surprise, as they have been first introduced in the release candidate.

Notepad++ is available for download from this page. You can also get it as a portable program.
