Vendors really stocked up on laptops, compared to August

Just as we learned that notebook makers would cut down on their collections in 2013, we find out that things actually moved along quite well in that field during September.

Microsoft will launch Windows 8 this month, and AMD, while less than a day away from announcing the Trinity A-Series desktop APUs that are already shipping, just outed two ultra-low voltage Trinity APUs as well.

That means that vendors have been stockpiling on products that use them and, sure enough, manufacturers got very large orders last month (September 2012).

The orders were so high, in fact, that shipment to vendors grew by 30-70% compared to August.

Shipments to ASUS and Acer were 50% and 30% higher, respectively, while HP got 70% more notebooks than in the previous month.

Once October 26 rolls around (that is when Windows 8 is released), we will see if the products sell well enough to justify these percentages.
