ODMs are finding it troublesome to drop their dependence on notebooks

One thing that everyone seems to be in agreement upon is that notebooks have been losing the interest of consumers. Slowly, but surely.

Thus, learning that ODMs (original device manufacturers) like Wistron and Inventec will get more than 50% of their revenue from notebooks would sound like good news for them.

Alas, that is not really the case. In fact, this actually shows a high dependency on laptops.

Thus, when the fall in notebook demand becomes greater and faster, the two might suffer financially.

Wistron and Inventec have been trying to reduce their notebook business revenue contributions, but with little luck, as they won't be able to go below 50% for quite a while.

For 2013 at least, Wistron will get 50% of its total revenue from laptops, while Inventec will get 55%. Things will stay more or less the same in 2014 too.
