Circus Ponies Software, Inc. is now shipping Notebook 3.0, a major update to its Mac OS X application that helps users stay organized. The new release brings diagramming and sketching to its electronic notebook pages, some PDF annotation features and support for handwriting recognition.

With handwriting recognition and anywhere-placement of text notes on a page, as well as the new PDF annotation features, which let students add class notes and lecture slides directly to their Notebooks, “NoteBook 3.0 makes it even easier for switchers to leave behind Windows and OneNote,” says Circus Ponies Software.

"NoteBook is the most-popular note organizer for the Mac, and with 3.0 we've made it even better," the company's president, Jayson Adams, said. "Now, Mac users don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on separate outlining, diagramming, and to do list programs — NoteBook does it all, at a fraction of the price." he added.

Diagramming and sketching on the electronic notebook pages allow users to “capture thoughts and ideas when words won’t suffice.” Furthermore, the new PDF annotation features not only allow for adding class notes and lecture slides directly to Notebooks, but also permit they be marked up with sketches, diagrams and text.

Circus Ponies Software has also set up a User Group Program to support established Mac User Groups from all corners of the globe. “We are honored by the support we've received from the MUG community and we'd like to respond in kind,” says the company. As such, user groups can apply to participate in the company's User Group Program, but only if they volunteer (not-for-profit organizations), and register with Apple as a recognized Apple User Group, among other requirements.
