Markus Persson, aka Notch, has revealed the first images linked to his new space-based project 0x10c, showing a rather interesting take on the space ship simulation genre.

The developer, who is best known for creating Minecraft, the highly successful indie title, seems to be interested in maintaining the same kind of aesthetic for his new project.

0x10c is going to be subscription based, although it is not yet clear how developer Mojang will use the business model, and it will allow gamers to explore space and manage a ship as they do so.

The game will offer players willing to subscribe a full 16-bit CPU simulation that will allow them to create their own games and control their own ship.

The official description of the new game reads: “It’s now the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, and the first lost people are starting to wake up to a universe on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy.”
