Markus Persson, aka Notch, has asked those who play his indie hit Minecraft to allow him access to a set of data linked to their gaming sessions, saying that it would allow him to better understand the public who enjoys his game and better tailor future content to their needs.

The developers proposes that gamers allow him to anonymously get information like Operating System used and game client type download but also more sensitive stuff like how long a player spends with Minecraft.

The info would be sent to Mojang once every ten minutes.

The developer has posted a poll linked to his request and it seems that most of those who are playing Minecraft and play the game are interested in giving him the access he requires.

At the moment, Minecraft is being offered on the PC and on iOS and Android powered mobile devices, but Mojang is now also developing an Xbox 360 version of the game which will be launched before the end of 2012.
