The publisher is also adamant in supporting PS3 and Xbox 360

Ubisoft's Vice President of Creative, Lionel Raynaud, has revealed that not releasing a new Assassin's Creed game each year would be a very stupid thing to do, as the demand is there and there are more than enough platforms to go around.

The first Assassin's Creed launched back in 2007 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but in 2009 Ubisoft kicked off a yearly release cycle for the franchise which saw one or even two new games debut each year across a wide range of platforms, including the PS4 and Xbox One with 2013's Black Flag.

While this strategy has been criticized by some, Ubisoft is still quite confident in its yearly cycle, especially since there's a lot of demand for the new games.

"We are able to offer people a new Assassin’s Creed every year because they want Assassin’s Creed every year," Raynaud told Edge. "As long as this is true we would be very stupid to not satisfy this need, but it puts a lot of pressure on us to create something that will never disappoint."

Raynaud emphasizes that each new game in the series needs to push things forward and deliver new experiences that haven't been seen until then.

"It needs to keep the series core values and we need to really make sure that we have a good, high level understanding of what it is to be an Assassin. We have to make sure we always deliver a better feel and overall experience every time while still bringing something that they haven’t seen before that’s consistent with being an Assassin in the world we’ve created."

Last but not least, he says that Ubisoft will continue to support the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, even though those versions of games won't have the same feature set as the PS4 or Xbox One editions.

"We will have games for PS3 and 360 for this year and probably the years after," he mentions. "We want to be able to provide games to people who are playing on these consoles. Black Flag was the first Assassin’s Creed game of this new generation but it was designed with that in mind, but I wouldn’t say it was a cross-generation game, as it has features that could only be for this generation."

Ubisoft so far has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Unity is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, and rumors say that another different experience called Assassin's Creed Comet is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360.
