Hey, everybody! Meet the YOM, aka your conventional clock radio, packed with a futuristic USB dock, specially designed to juice up your MP3 player.
The MP3 player alarm clocks are nothing new under the sun. The man behind this good-looking concept is Philipp Goeder. According to Coroflot,
Goeder is also known for its braun deltagroom and the commandarm.
This is its first attempt to customize an electronic device with some other popular features on the market. So, instead of waking up to the annoying radio, or some idiotic noise, the manufacturers have thought you might actually enjoy some of your favorite music better.
All you have to do is plug in your USB stick, which has to be loaded with great tunes. Then choose your favorite and customize the alarm.
One of the best, comfortable and geeky parts when using this device is represented by its cool touch-sensitive controls. In addition, YOM features an integrated speakers system, capable of doubling itself as a stereo from time to time, when you feel like listening to some weather forecast. But that's not its only extra feature. Just as the speakers double as a stereo, the USB stick easily becomes a joystick to toggle through your playlists.
The stick just has to be inserted in the USP-port, also used for the play controls. The clock-radio interface was reduced to 3 main alarm functions. Also, the multiple settings panel ca be controlled and altered via the touch sensitive slider.
YOM says nothing to me, but after seeing this item, I have to admit it's going to ring a bell next time, for sure. If the concept ever sees the light, there is going to be some hand-eye coordination challenge, but damn, the design is hot!
