14 DAY TRIAL // It’s official, no one likes the new Yahoo Mail! You’d think that at least the company’s employees would be using the service, right? Well, it doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to an internal memo of the company, only about 25 percent of employees actually made the switch when asked by the company several months back, AllThingsD reports.
“Earlier this year we asked you to move to Yahoo Mail for your corporate email account. 25% of you made the switch (thank you). But even if we used the most generous of grading curves (say, the one from organic chemistry), we have clearly failed in our goal to move our co-workers to Yahoo Email,” the memo reads.
Then, of course, they urge the rest of the company to make the switch. “Beyond the practical benefits of giving feedback to your colleagues on the Mail team, as a company it’s a matter of principle to use the products we make (BTW, same for Search),” the message reads, pointing out that probably everyone is also using Google as the default search engine.
For the record, Yahoo employees use Microsoft's Outlook.
As everyone probably knows by now, Yahoo Mail is far from being the favorite product of the general population. The latest change implemented several months ago has made people run away screaming, seeking solutions to bring back the older version of the tool, the one that actually had some functionality, that had separate mail tabs and where email folders were quick to view and easy to access.
Over the past weeks, people have sought out solutions to make this happen if they haven’t simply decided to stop using the service altogether.
There’s even been a petition asking Marissa Mayer to bring back the old Yahoo Mail, but to no avail. Perhaps it would be a good idea if the other 75 percent of the employees started using Yahoo Mail and they actually gave bad feedback to the Mail team; perhaps this way something would actually change with the product.
