The fans of Yahoo Messenger are all around the world and because the Sunnyvale company's chat solution is so popular, there are numerous problems encountered with it. One of the
most annoying problems discovered in Yahoo Messenger is that sometimes, you're not able to view any message coming from a contact or sent by you, as well as emoticons or audibles. Usually, the Yahoo Messenger chat window is empty and, even if you're writing messages, they are not appearing. Moreover, not even your name shows up. If you ever encountered this, I'm sure you tried almost anything: restarting the computer, reinstalling the instant messaging client and who knows, maybe reinstalling Windows? Well, this problem is usually caused by an Internet Explorer glitch that block the execution of the scripts in Yahoo Messenger. Very often, you can fix the error by enabling the scripts in Internet Explorer. Here's what you must do in order to repair the problem and to assure that it will not appear again: go to 'Control Panel' and click on 'Internet Options'. This window can be also accessed straight from Internet Explorer by clicking on 'Tools' and opening 'Internet Options'. Then, navigate to the 'Security' tab, select the Internet option (the Earth icon) and click on the 'Custom Level' button. You should be able to see a lot of options but what you need to change are some lines located in the 'Scripting' field. Scroll down until you find it and then enable 'Active scripting', 'Allow paste operations via script' and 'Scripting of Java applets are all enabled'. Click OK and Apply and it should be fixed. Keep in mind that you must restart Yahoo Messenger in order to use the new settings but no reboot of the computer is required. If you want to download the latest version of Yahoo Messenger, you can take it straight from Softpedia using this link.

| Comment #5.1 by: bjbandit on 03 Jan 2010, 04:32 GMT | It seem that nobody, even yahoo has the solution to this problem. I can see that someone is sending me a message but it does not get to me on the IM box and vice versa where it does not get to them. Come on yahoo what are you doing to solve this problem. I see patches after patches but all useless. |
| Comment #6 by: Mihai on 28 Feb 2010, 00:13 UTC | reply to this comment | The only solution I found was to run this little command in the command prompt (it fixed the problem in Windowx XP) "regsvr32 jscript.dll" without the quotes. The problem does not lie with Yahoo, but with Windows, not even with Windows, to be fair, but with a certain dll not being registered properly. Cheers. |

| Comment #15.1 by: dan on 29 Dec 2010, 03:22 GMT | Here’s a solution which will almost certainly solve your problem.
Click: START
Click: RUN
Type: REGEDIT
PRESS ENTER
Locate: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Internet Settings > Zones >
Youll see a number of folders numbered: 0 1 2 3 etc
Above these you might see another folder there, before that zero folder, with a box type character - delete that .
Now close and Restart Your Pc everything should be fine.
If not, try uninstalling Messenger and then doing the above then reinstalling
i found it on a forum. work for me. it solved my problem |
