A month ago we set to found out what was the most used antivirus application which guarded your computer and defended it against 'friendly' codes (viruses, worms, trojans, etc.).
Considering the large number of votes, we have now a pretty good picture of the users' preferences when it comes to antiviruses.
With an overwhelming 932 votes, the Softpedia is proud
to present Norton Antivirus as the winner of our competition.
The battle for the second place was fought by Kaspersky, NOD32 and AVG, all of them with more than 650 votes.
But while NOD32 and AVG got 13.50% of the votes, Kaspersky outran them with 14.60%.
The third placed went to Bitdefender with 8.57% of the votes, followed by Avast! with 7.36% and McAfee with 7.01%.
Among the other antivirus applications employed by the Softpedia users, there are Trend Micro with 3.13% of the votes, Panda with 2.47% and F-Secure with 1.90%.
The products which scored under 50% were Dr. Web with 0.31%, Sophos with 0.27% and Norman Virus Control with only 0.18%.
Although we included a large number of antivirus applications, it seems that there were still some we've missed, the 'Other' category receiving 8.03% of the votes.
In conclusion, Norton Antivirus wins the Softpedia's User Choice Award.
