There is a piece of news that is now spreading like wildfire on the Internet, and folks on Reddit seem unable to get enough of it.

The news in question concerns North Korea's allegedly claiming that it had successfully landed a man on the sun, and then got him back home just in time for dinner.

The frenzy was started by Waterford Whispers News, whose staff published an article apparently detailing North Korea's space adventure this past January 21.

In its article, the publication wrote that the news concerning North Korea's success in landing a man on the sun was shared with the public by the country's central news agency.

It went on to say that the lucky individual was Hung Il Gong, and that his uncle was none other than Kim Jong-un.

Waterford Whispers News added that it only took Hung Il Gong 4 hours to reach the sun, and that the mission lasted for about 18 hours in total.

The astronaut is said to have traveled on a specially designed rocket, and to have used the cover of darkness (for those unaware, the sun turns off during nighttime) to avoid getting an unwanted tan.

While exploring the star, he collected sun spot samples that were meant as presents for Kim Jong-un.

North Korea is known to be a fan of propaganda, so quite a lot of people assumed that the country had in fact told the rest of the world that it had successfully completed this space odyssey.

It turns out these people could not have been more wrong and that, as surprising as this may sound, North Korea does have its limits when it comes to making outrageous statements.

Just to clear things out, the problem with this story is that Waterford Whispers News, whose staff, as already mentioned, first broke the news that North Korea had claimed sending a man to the sun, is an Irish satire publication.

Otherwise put, neither has North Korea landed a man on said star, nor has the country said that it did. On the contrary, the news was a hoax, and quite a good one.
