Comedy is about an attempt to assassinate Kim Jong-Un, Kim Jong-Un is not amused

Well, that didn’t take long. A little over a week after Sony Pictures released the first official trailer for “The Interview,” the new comedy from James Franco and Seth Rogen, North Korea has officially condemned the two actors and their work.

In case you missed the trailer at the time (it’s also embedded below, by the way), you should know that “The Interview” is about a famous TV host and his producer who manage to book an interview with Kim Jong-Un. However, right before they depart for North Korea, the two are intercepted by the CIA and assigned the difficult mission of assassinating the country’s leader.

You can see why Kim Jong-Un is not amused by this, as a publicist for him makes it very clear in a statement to The Telegraph. Certain matters are not to be laughed at, says the official: and this is definitely one of those.

“There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society. A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy – Americans,” the official says.

“In fact, President [Barack] Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well,” adds the representative.

With all this justified outrage, Kim Jong-Un still plans to see the movie when it comes out later this year. Rogen’s response to this was absolutely hilarious:
