The official Metro version of the Nook client has been around for a while, but Microsoft and Barnes & Noble have now joined forces to launch a very special promo in the United Kingdom.

For a limited time, Britons who already installed Windows 8.1 and are now running the Nook app are allowed to get five books and five magazines free of charge. The list features popular titles such as The Moaning of Life, The Luminaries, and England’s 100 Best Views, as well as magazines including Cosmopolitan UK, Men’s Health and Esquire UK.

“We look forward to rolling out similar great offers to customers in more countries in the future, helping them to experience our unmatched reading platform,” said Jim Hilt, managing director, Barnes & Noble, said.

As you can see, Barnes & Noble and Microsoft plan to launch similar offers in some other markets too, but there are no details as to when these new promos could go live. More details are, however, expected to be provided in the coming weeks.
