Trying to make up for blocking Android app side-loading on the Nook Color and Tablet, Barnes & Noble has announced a new series of apps that are available for their devices.

According to B&N, the list includes software such as Scrabble single user, Office Gamebox, Rock ‘Em sock ‘Em Robots, Jeopardy!, Wreck this App, Magic 8 Ball, and Doodle Jump Christmas, which are all available for download as we speak.

In the future this list will grow by a few more apps such as Twitter and Plants vs. Zombies, which are all welcomed additions, I guess.

However, the problem of not being able to access any other apps that what B&N wants you to, will still be a major downer for many, as nobody likes to see their app choices limited to what somebody believes it’s safe.

" Unfortunately, that applies even to the Android market and the iPhone and iMac stores - it's the reason you can't transfer between the two (or at least they don't want you to). Each company limits itself and it's not unreasonable to expect a company who releases a product to limit what they want you to do and download with the product. This is a Barnes & Noble product, specifically geared toward Barnes & Noble content (with little room for much else).

Barnes & Noble has forgotten who their customer is. KIndle Fire allows downloading from android market. B&N only has 2000 apps. Amazon Aps has over 200,000. B&N did not include a facebook or yahoo app. I love the ereader but B&N better hurry up and get the apps that people want.
