Developed by ReaderDock, it does more than hold the devices up

Looks like Barnes and Noble is getting some docks of its own, or one of them, ready to act as the seat of power for the Nook e-reader and tablet.

It wasn't B&N itself that designed the Docking Station for the 7-inch devices.

Instead, ReaderDock made it and expects to start shipping it before the month is out (January, 2012).

What may jump into view is the distinct lack of peripheral support.

Had the B&N devices possessed native USB Host support, the lack of USB ports would have been an issue but, since that is not the case, ReaderDock's design decision makes perfect sense.

On the bright side, the dock does offer integrated stereo speakers and the ability to rotate the cradle.

That way the Nook Tabler or Nook Color e-readers can be held in both portrait and landscape positions.

If anything, the dock should come in handy for watching streamed Netflix videos. Unfortunately, no price was mentioned.
