OfficeMax and Barnes & Noble have recently announced that the two have entered into an partnership, that will allow the former to add the Simple Touch Reader and the Nook Color tablet to its extensive offer of technology products.

Of the two devices to become available from OfficeMax, the Nook Color is the one that stands out most from the crowd.

This is because, the Nook Color is actually a fully fledged tablet that runs the Android 2.2, code named Froyo, operating system which turns it from just another color eReader into a rather capable $249 Internet and multimedia device.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch multi-touch display, 5GB of internal storage space (only 1GB are available for the user content), an 800MHz TI OMAP 3621 processor, and with a microSD card slot which can access up to 32GB of data.

The second device to be available from OfficeMax is actually Barnes & Noble's all-new, touch enabled, 6-inch eReader that sports a sleeker design and better performance than the company's previous eInk book reader. This will retail for $139.

“CNET and other leading industry reviewers have given The All-New Nook and Nook Color their top Editor’s Choice distinctions, and we’re excited to bring our line of award-winning eReading devices to OfficeMax customers in-store and online,” said Chris Peifer, vice president, Digital Business Development at Barnes & Noble.

“We invite OfficeMax customers to explore the full range of Nook products to see which device is best for them.

“Whether planning for a late summer getaway or back-to-school season, a Nook eReading device is the ideal companion for anyone who wants to access their favorite reads anywhere they go,” concluded the company's rep.

All the three Nook devices, and related accessories, will be available at all OfficeMax retail stores and on the company's website beginning July 30.
