The tablet market is maintaining its growing standard throughout Q3 of 2013 as well. According to the latest figures released by DigiTimes Research, overall tablet shipments grew 15.3% quarter-over-quarter and 34.6% year-over-year.

But surprise, non-iOS slates seem to be driving the growth and not the almighty iPad, as you might be expecting. Now non-iPad tablet shipments account for a massive 56.3% of the total units being sent out to customers around the world.

Even if Apple launched its newest iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display last week, the iPad mini started shipping from suppliers at the end of October, due to shortage in HD panels.

Therefore, iPad shipments in Q3 only saw 6.8% increase quarter-over-quarter. This, in turn, translates into the Apple slate dominating just 43.7% of the global market.

Taking things apart, Apple and Samsung ended up on the top of the tablet food chain in the Q3, with Samsung experiencing an increase in market share with 30%. Google, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and Amazon snatched the remaining positions. Global tablet shipments managed to reach 35.68 million units in the Q3 of 2013.
