The winds will not shift for the better in 2014, when notebooks are expected to continue their declining process on the 2013 trend.

According to fresh information reported by DisplaySearch (via DigiTimes) brand vendors are anticipating delays and weakened consumer demand in the notebook department so companies like Apple, ASUS, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba have all lowered their shipment estimates.

The revised forecast shows a 134 million units are expected to ship in 2014, which constitutes a decrease from the previous estimated 152 million.

Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch tablet will probably put more pressure on notebook vendors. On top of that, wearable devices are expected to grow in popularity and stir customers away from laptop purchases.

Nevertheless, the notebook market is preparing to counterattack by prepping 14 to 15.6-inch models expected to sell for a price of $299 / €219. The models will not be sporting touch screens and are expected to arrive in June 2014.
