Microsoft has already announced plans to start selling the Surface tablet through third-party retailers, so stores across the Old Continent have started receiving the device.

John Lewis will be the first non-Microsoft store selling the Surface in the United Kingdom, the company announced today.

The retailer will begin taking orders for the device today, while the tablet will be showcased in its stores over the weekend.

“Always first with the latest technology, John Lewis is delighted to announce that it will be the first high street retailer in the UK to offer the Microsoft Surface from the 14 December 2012 and with a two-year guarantee included at no extra cost,” a John Lewis spokesperson told Pocket-lint.

Pricing will remain the same, with the cheapest model to cost £399 (€490 / $643) for the 32 GB version without a Touch Cover.
