Z Launcher, the Android launcher application that Nokia released as a pre-beta version not long ago, has just received an update, resolving some of the issues discovered in the previous iteration and also adding some more enhancements to it.

This is the first significant update to Z Launcher and is accompanied by great news for those who signed up for the beta but weren’t included in the first batch of testers, as the team behind the app has decided to make it available for more people.

The updated app iteration includes some of the most popular suggestions received from users, yet the software is still considered to be in its early stages of development.

Those who will update to the new Z Launcher release will see that they can now configure Favorites via drag-and-drop on the home screen. Moreover, they will be able to hide and uninstall apps via press-and-hold.

Moreover, users will see that the new application iteration offers better compatibility with handsets such as HTC One and Moto X. According to the development team, support for other popular Android devices will be included in the app in the not-too-distant future.

Another change in Z Launcher is Wi-Fi SSID incorporated into the software’s algorithm, which means that it will be able to better recognize and promote apps used on specific networks.

On top of that, the mobile app will provide users with data insight, so that they can learn more on how they use their phones, what apps and contacts they access, and when.

Should this new feature prove popular, it will see further enhancements. For the time being, however, it can deliver only the aforementioned simple functionality.

The update also arrives on devices with a variety of bug fixes, as the team has focused on ensuring that the Z Launcher is more reliable than before.

Users who were included in the initial beta trial will receive a notification on the availability of the updated application. Furthermore, as mentioned above, some of those who previously signed up to the beta but did not receive access to it have been accepted in the program now.

“If you were one of the people who previously requested to join our pre-beta after we reached capacity early in the trial, you can now download and start using Z Launcher. While we are not ready to open the private beta to everyone, we made it a priority to invite people who previously tried to join the trial,” the Z Launcher Team notes in a blog post.

Users should head over to the Trial page on the Z Launcher’s website to validate their email and receive access to the application. Apparently, a Google Account sign-in within the app is required now, and it will be used to pull down your data for Data Insight.
