They might become official before the end of this year

Before the end of this year, we might see the first handsets running under Windows Phone 8 coming to the market from Finnish handset vendor Nokia.

The company hasn’t made an official announcement on the matter as of now, but some rumors did emerge, suggesting that the upcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets from Nokia will be amazing.

In fact, a Nokia employee who had the chance to play with those handsets confirmed the fact that the phones would be great.

Since these words come from a Nokia employee, it does not come as a surprise that he would describe these devices in bright colors.

However, these are the first details we’ve got on Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone devices, and might indeed prove true.

“Today I met a Nokia employee. Nokias Apollo devices will be incredible. But still Microsoft,” a tweet from @zehjotkah reads.

“This employee is not a marketing guy and I trust him. He's using a N9 and likes it more than Windows Phones,” @zehjotkah continues. “He said Nokias Apollo devices are going to be unbelieveable. Nothing the current Lumia line could compare to.”

Nokia did say that its first Windows Phone handsets would be great, and they were capable of proving so, although sales weren’t amazing.

With the future Windows Phone handsets Nokia might plan a variety of hardware and software upgrades, all of which should contribute to a better experience for all users.

What remains to be seen is whether there will be major design changes as well, or if Nokia will pack these phones with the same looks as its flagship Nokia N9, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 devices.

In addition to the said hardware upgrades, Nokia’s future handsets will also benefit from the features and capabilities that Microsoft plans for the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform. WP 8 will move away from the Windows CE Kernel that was included in the previous flavors of Microsoft’s OS.

If Nokia is indeed set to make its first Windows Phone 8 devices official in late 2012, it means that it should not be too long before more info on them emerge, so stay tuned to learn the news.
