One of the appealing applications that Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia made available for download on its Windows Phone 8-based Lumia devices is the Play To app, which has just received a new update, and which was also published in the official Windows Phone Store.

The software has been available only through the Nokia Beta Labs website until now, but the team of developers behind it has finally decided to push it out in a final flavor, it seems.

“We are now happy to announce that PlayTo is now available in Store. All our Lumia WP8 based devices starting from Nokia Lumia 520 to Nokia Lumia 920 are supported,” a recent post on the Nokia Beta Labs blog reads.

“From the functionality point of view, no new features are introduced, but we have fixed lot of issues compared to the beta version.”

The team also notes that there still are some unresolved issues in the application, and that future updates will arrive to fix them. One of these problems is related to Denon AVR and some other music receivers, the team notes.

“Please note that PS3 is not supported in this release, nor streaming content from the cloud,” the aforementioned blog post continues.

Furthermore, the team announced that the Beta Labs forum will remain open for comments and feedback, while also encouraging users to share their thoughts on the application, as well as on the experience they receive from it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Play To application was designed to provide users with the possibility to easily send personal content from a smartphone (including photos, videos and music) to DLNA capable devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

“Using the application allows you to easily connect to your Wi-Fi network and discover active DLNA capable devices on the network. Enjoy your content on DLNA capable TVs, Blu-ray players, PCs etc.,” Nokia explains.

The Play To application (version 2.2.0.70) for Windows Phone 8 is available on this page in the Windows Phone Store as a free download for Lumia devices.
